She was born the fifth of seven children on November 20, 1918 at Alma Center, Wisconsin, to Norwegian immigrant dairy farmer Thomas Anderson and his first-generation Norwegian wife, Clara Hanson. In 1937, Thelma married Ludwig Daniels at Black River Falls, Wisconsin and then they moved to Livingston Montana, where he worked as a brakeman/conductor for the Northern Pacific Railroad until his death in 1945. Being a young mother, she worked many long hours as a waitress at the Park Hotel and later the Murray Hotel to support her three young children. Thelma remarried twice while in Livingston, first to Max Carlson, who died of a stroke, and then to Robert Hansen, who died in an Automobile accident. After moving to Billings to attend Billings Business college, she met a friend of years past, Alfred Kielland, whom she married in 1974. They shared many happy years together until his passing in 1995. Upon graduation from business college, she worked at Saint Vincent Hospital in the insurance office until she retired. After retirement, she did volunteer work in the Billings Deaconess gift shop for many years. She was a member of the Billings Business Professional Women and the Deaconess Auxiliary. She was an active member of American Lutheran Church in Livingston and in Billings. She was involved in Ladies Aide, the Sewing Circle and she also taught Sunday school. She volunteered where ever needed whether it be with newsletters, church dinners, helping organize church events or serving as an officer in many capacities, whether at the local or circuit level. She was an expert at crossword puzzles and an avid reader of great books, loved to travel and enjoyed sending and receiving e-mails. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining and was noted for her angel pie, lefse and the baking of all sorts of Norwegian Christmas Goodies. This Scandinavian art she learned from her mother, and she passed these talents on to her children. Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Anderson and Clara (Hanson) Anderson; her brothers, Elmer, Norman, Ivan and Morris Anderson; sister Celia; stepson Raymond Carlson and husbands, Ludwig Daniels, Max Carlson, Robert Hansen and Alfred Kielland.
